چکیده

Abstract Dicarboxylic amino acid-based surfactants ( N -dodecyl derivatives of -aminomalonate, -aspartate, and -glutamate) in combination with hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (HTAB) form a variety aggregates. Composition concentration-dependent mixtures exhibit liquid crystal, gel, precipitate, clear isotropic phases. Liquid crystalline patterns, formed by surfactant mixtures, were identified polarizing optical microscopy. FE-SEM studies reveal the existence surface morphologies different mixed Phase transition associated weight loss found to depend on composition where thermotropic behaviours revealed through combined differential scanning calorimetry thermogravimetric studies. Systems comprising more than 60 mol% HTAB demonstrate shear-thinning behaviour. Gels cause insignificant toxicity human peripheral lymphocytes irritation bare mouse skin; they do not display symptoms cutaneous irritation, neutrophilic invasion, inflammation (erythema, edema, skin thinning) as evidenced cumulative irritancy index score. also substantial antibacterial effects Staphylococcus aureus , potent causative agent soft tissue infections, suggesting its possible application vehicle for topical dermatological drug delivery.

Organized assemblies in bolaamphiphile/oppositely charged conventional surfactant mixed systems.

Five ionic bolaamphiphiles were synthesized and the aggregation behavior of bola single systems and bola/oppositely charged conventional surfactant mixed systems was studied. Small spherical vesicles were formed in all these mixed systems revealed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Variation of the structure of the hydrophobic chain of bolaamphiphiles has great influences on the vesicle...

Foaming and adsorption behavior of oppositely charged surfactant mixtures

Although the application of liquid foams is widespread, too little is yet understood about stability control. One promising way to tune their properties is the application of oppositely charged surfactant mixtures. These catanionic surfactant mixtures show a strong synergism. This makes them eco-friendly since it allows reducing the required amount of surfactant. Due to the formation of surface...

Complex Formation between Polyelectrolyte and Oppositely Charged Mixed Micelles

Electrophoretic light scattering, dynamic light scattering, turbidity, and static light scattering were used to study complex formation between poly(dimethyldiallylammonium chloride) (PDMDAAC) and oppositely charged mixed micelles of Triton X-100 (TX100) and sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) in 0.4 M NaC1. Interpolymer complexes form with an increasing bulk weight ratio of PDMDAAC to TX100-SDS, W, a...

Micro droplets generated on a rising bubble through an oppositely charged oil/water interface

The mass transfer between immiscible two-liquid phases can be greatly enhanced by bubbling gas through a reactor. Numerous micro water droplets breaking out from a ruptured water film around a rising bubble through the oil (upper phase)/water (lower phase) interface were demonstrated in the preceding paper (Uemura T., Ueda Y. and Iguchi M., Europhys. Lett., 92 (2010) 34004). In this letter, we ...

Counterion and pH-Mediated Structural Changes in Charged Biopolymer Gels.

DNA solutions and gels exhibit a wide range of phenomena, many of which have not yet been fully understood. In the presence of multivalent counterions, attraction between charged DNA strands occurs. Increasing the concentration of multivalent ions leads to a decrease of the osmotic pressure, and a sufficiently high ion concentration results in the precipitation of the polymer. Replacing the mon...
